3:09 am - Happy Founders' Day!

I figured since I was the one who posted it last year, I may as well do it this year, too ^_^

Happy Founders' Day, everyone! (And, well, Thanksgiving, too!)

Go eat 19.13 pounds of food? Or something...

Don't forget to donate ^_~

7:02 pm - Happy February!

Yay! A Phi Sigma Sigma community! :)

My name is Valerie and I'm from the Epsilon Epsilon chapter. I've been in since Fall 2008, so I'm still new but I know a lot about it because I'm a legacy :D Just posting because I know that there hasn't been a post in awhile.

Hope all the E-board members had/have fun at LC!

5:51 pm - Happy 95th Birthday!

Hi! I noticed that the community hadn't been updated in a while, so I thought I'd just make a post to wish Phi Sigma Sigma a happy 95th birthday!

Happy Founders' Day, everyone!

Hey fellow sisters,

I just wanted everyone to know that I happened to get an extra phi sigma sigma rhinestone bracelet, so I am selling it on ebay. It just came and i've never worn it. Heres the auction:

5:00 pm

Hey ladies...I'm from a very small chapter that suddenly grew to almost 4 times it's size. We are re-electing officers after only 3 months. Recently we've started having serious issues with gossiping and people just not having any sort of respect for eachother. You know girls can be...haha Anyway, it's gotten to the point that it's reached outside and other campus organiztions know what is going on. We have tried to contact internationls, our advisor, our advisors at the school, we were offered a team building program which hasn't had a date set yet. that is all. Our President was pretty much told she's the President and should know how to handle this on her own. She's at her wits end as you can probably imagine! Any suggestions?

thanks so much!

I know that I, personally, was a little disappointed at the lack of Phi Sigma Sigma icons floating around...
so I decided to make/share some!!!

They're all just random graphics I found and made smaller.
Some were already 100x100.
I didn't really "make" them, I don't have that kind of skill. : )
If there are any Phi Sigs out there who want them, feel free to take them!

4:34 am - Hello sisters!

I'm from the Iota Gamma chapter in Los Angeles, California. I re-activated my lj account and found this great community. I'm currently the Archon for my chapter until my term ends in December. I'm graduating in May and hope to be a CKA when I go alum. Please feel free to add me!

11:11 am - New regions and new CAs!

Hi ladies,

so it's official! New "Community Archons" have been announced, as well as the realignment of regions! (though I suspect they made a type and that Michigan + WI means Windsor not Wisconsin since Wisconsin is in the midwest reagion)

So, of course you'll see that my name is NOT on there! I did tell you I wasn't applying, right? I now have no Phi Sig position. Feels a little weird - my first time being "free". Well, I'll keep my eye open and if something light comes up, I'll think about it...

Good luck to all of you in the new school year!

11:22 pm - Philanthropy

I'm the new philanthropy chair for my chapter (Iota Delta). We didn't do a lot last semester, because the last chair wasn't really into it. What are some of the things that you guys do in your chapters?

12:42 am - Hello from Rhode Island!

Hi girls!

I'm a Phi Sig from the University of Rhode Island, Gamma Zeta Chapter, and I've been a Phi Sig since Spring 2005. I suppose my point here is just to say a quick hello :o)

Currently, our chapter has been going under some big changes. We've been working with nationals for about a year now in order to increase our numbers and create a better sorority overall. When I first joined, we were in pretty rough shape, but since elections toward the end of last fall, things have been looking up. Our newest class of girls (Spring 2006) shows a great deal of potential for the future of our sorority.

I found this community on a whim and joined a little less than a week ago. It's great to see sisters from all over! And if I read correctly, there are some girls from a Phi Sig in it's very beginning stages? That's so exciting, and I just want to say, good luck! It's wonderful to be a part of Phi Sig and you really are bringing something wonderful to your campus!

This is becoming quite a long-winded hello! I guess I have a question - I'm curious as to how Phi Sig is viewed at your schools. At URI, we're known for being extremely accepting (non-exclusive) and friendly. We have a very diverse group of girls (from all over the US, with majors ranging from TMD to Pharmacy, all from different walks of life) who get along extremely well, across all different social boundaries. It's wonderful, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. As we always say in our chapter, these are the girls who will some day be your bridesmaids!

So, hello to all, and I can't wait to hear what you gals have to say!

5:57 pm - Gamma Lambda loss

Dear Sisters,

After the recent joy of being initiated and recolonizing at the Gamma Lambda chapter at UW-Superior, they are now experiencing an unfortunate sorrow.

Rebekah Joy Severinsen, age 19 and member of Phi Sigma Sigma, passed away on Monday, May 22nd.

I only have the chapter's mailing address from the directory to send condolences to, though for anyone who feels the need, I do have the Archon's email as well.

8:52 am - Dangles

Hello :)

This may sound a little stupid to you all...but just remember...Im new, and from a new chapter, and we are all trying to figure out this dangle thing.

We are planning on ordering on our own over the summer.

I just have a couple questions about the dangles on the Phi Sigma Sigma website.

First...I am the tribune, I would like to get the tribune dangle.
I see their are two dangles for a tribune.
Which dangle am I supposed to choose?

Another question I have...who can wear the scholarship pearl?
What is it usually given out for? And to who?

I think thats it for now.

12:08 am - Sisters are there for ya

From my sister who lost her baby:
"Today I received 2 blue cards one from Phi Sigma Sigma and the other from an Alumnae chapter in Pensylvania. This is what sisterhood is all about and I thank my lucky stars everyday to have the support of my sisters."

It's really special the way sisters reach out to one another, even across borders. I thank my lucky stars too that I have all of you and all of my other Phi Siggies out there.

Remember our motto :)

8:26 pm - Regional Leadership Conference!

Oh wow!!

I am SO pumped about the Regional Leadership Conference!

We got 10 of our girls to go!! We were so surprised that everyone wanted to go, we probably could've even found more girls from our colony to go to this.

We are all really excited!!!

I dont know if its something to be excited about or not...but we are!! LOL

I just thought I would share that :)

update on our status: So far we have 23 girls!! 27 sisters here we come!!

I am really proud of our success so far. I have noticed a lot of girls get their faith back...I think some of them were giving up before, but then when they realized how close we were...it hit them.
We have several awesome women and friends interested in joining too, so I think we will make the 27!!

Initiation is so close I can feel the chills down my back! YAY!!!

11:31 am - Inspiration and Gratitude

It is with great sadness that I received the news that the Phi Sigma Sigma chapter at ULV in CA lost one of their members yesterday. While I never got the opportunity to meet Neddie, I did have the opportunity to meet and grow to love a few of her chapter sisters at LTS this past summer. Please take the time to read the linked blog entry.

Lessons From Neddie
